Yet again up with the sun and plenty to do before we can get going.

The place that we stumbled into last night turned out to be a fantastic place.  It’s right on the beach … camped about 20m from the high water mark.  Tons of room for tons of vans, now that we can see things in the morning light.  The only downside is that the tides are huge and the water is about 1km away this morning.  This would be a fantastic spot to setup camp for a few days though, if we had time … which we don’t.

First job of the day was to clean out the smelly engel and give the van fridge a head start on cooling down its contents.  Next up was to pack everything away in its proper place.  This took awhile, as it meant fully unloading the car and repacking it before setting to work on the van.

It didn’t slow down our departure too much though and we were soon on our way South again.

The tentative goal for today was Bundaberg at 560km.  This turned out to be where we got to.  Roadworks was the theme of the day with us seemingly constantly doing 40kmh.

We also got a bit scared when this strange stuff started falling from the sky and I had to turn the wipers on.  It’s been since we were at Perth when we last saw this strange phenomenon.  Hope there’s not too much more of it.

Nevertheless, we made it to Rockhampton and did a big shop to replenish our supplies.  Plenty of bits and pieces to track down as well as the grocery shopping.  It was about 2pm by the time we got outta there and we still hadn’t had lunch.

Lunch ended up being by the side of the road, as there just weren’t many spots to stop due to all the roadworks.

Bundaberg was in our sights now for a 6pm arrival.  Setting up in the dark again, but its not a big deal in a proper park.  The one we chose for the night initially looked a bit dodgy, so we found another one as the light faded completely.  This one is our first ensuite site for ages and that made things much more comfortable.

Nearly time for a haircut young Blakey!

No big drive for tomorrow.  A couple of mandatory tourist stops in Bundaberg before we continue South.  Hervey Bay tonight hopefully.  The weather is threatening rain over the next few days.  That would upset our plans a bit if it did … so here’s hoping!
