A little bit of a sleep in was allowed this morning since our first stop wasn’t until 10am.  That first stop was the Bundaberg Rum Distillery!

The tour was quite interesting.  They broke with tradition today and told us absolutely everything about how the Rum was made.  Everything!  They told us the secret formula and everything … awesome!

At the end of the tour they give out some free samples … and thus we forgot all the important details of how anything took place at all really.  We did manage to remember how the credit card worked though, with assistance … funny about that.  Thus the pub with no beer has been found … they only had Bundy behind this bar.

6 million bottles of Bundy Rum in this shed

After the tour we did the drive of the day down to Hervey Bay.  It was only about 120 km and didn’t take too long.  We got stuck behind a truck at 100kmh which was no bad thing.  A couple of oversized loads coming the other way brought everything to a screeching halt on a couple of occasions, but the drive was pretty uneventful.

The park at Hervey Bay is fantastic.  A couple of pools and lovely gardens with a few ponds.  Tons of wildlife.

A few resident ducks, ibis and many more I can’t identify.  Even some turtles in the lagoons.
