The South Australia Drive

New car, new dashcam, new road trip.

Trying out a new cam, the Viofo A119 V3. Seems to give a better picture than the older one, especially at night.

Also trying out a new car, a Kia Sportage. This one has got adaptive cruise with stop start so most of this drive has the car on cruise control and it works really well. It also tries to keep itself centered in the lane, which doesn’t work quite so well.

Done over 3 days at the start of December 2019. At 4x speed. Route: Frankston to Sorrento, Ferry across to Queenscliff, Geelong, Torquay, Great Ocean Rd, Lorne, Apollo Bay, 12 Apostles, Port Campbell, Warrnambool, Port Fairy, Portland, Mount Gambier. Return via Hamilton and Ballarat and finishing in Melbourne. Fueling done overnight.

The Queensland Drive

These videos are from my Viofo A119 dashcam on the Prado. Done in September 2018.

On the way up we went on Eastlink to Ringwood, then via Lilydale, Yea, Euroa to the Hume Fwy. That takes us to Sydney, which is bypassed via the M7 out to the Pacific Hwy/Mwy that gets us to Qld. Overnight stops near Gosford and Coolangatta. From Coolangatta we went thru Surfers then back to the Pacific Mwy/Bruce Hwy to Caloundra where we followed the coast in to Noosaville.

On the way back we went from Noosaville to Eumundi then following the Bruce Hwy/Pacific Mwy to the Gold Coast. Continuing down the Pacific Hwy/Mwy to Forster for the first stop. Down into Sydney and across the Harbour Bridge. Down towards Wollongong and over Sea Cliff Bridge before heading inland to join the Hume Hwy/Fwy to get to Yass for the 2nd stop. From Yass we went a little inland to break up the highway driving a bit, but rejoined the Hume at Albury and continued into Melbourne. We took the Western Ring road to go over the Bolte bridge and then followed the coast down to Frankston via Beach Rd/Nepean Hwy.
