Wow, what a game!

I couldn’t bring myself to watch it until after half-time, I just listened to the radio version instead.  Part of the reason for that was that I couldn’t get the game on the TV in the van, despite the TV tower only being a few km away.

After half-time I went over to the camp kitchen to watch it on the screen there, only to discover that it was a delayed broadcast and I was better off listening to it anyway!

What better way to celebrate a hard fought grand final win than a walk along Mission Beach?

The day started out with our usual quick packup.  I’ll have to time our routine one of these days to see just how quick we’re actually doing it.  It feels like it’s about 5 minutes, but I’m sure its longer than that.  It’s quick though, that’s for sure.

We wound our way back up the hills and out of the Daintree, just in time to snag pole position on the waiting ferry.

We’d originally planned on staying at a free camp at Bingal Bay, about 3km from Mission Beach.  When we got there though it was chockas.  So we kept going into Mission Beach.  This turned out to be a very good thing since they had the game on the TV and a pool.  The sites here are a bit small, but we managed to just squeeze on.

Before the game, we got a couple of pizza’s and contemplated watching the game at the pub, but $7 beers soon put an end to that idea.  We did get to see the travesty that is Melbourne weather on the big screen at the pub though.  I’ll admit that that put a big smile on my dial!  The weather is shocking up here too … honest!

After the game we went and took a walk along Mission Beach to enjoy the sunset.

Kel & Hannah had a bit of a quick dip.  It’s hot work walking across the road from the pool to the beach …
