Today looks like our only chance to do touristy stuff in Darwin, so that’s what we did.
We went and took a look at the Museum and Art Gallery … all free entry.
Heaps to see in the museum, but not many of the exhibits allowed photography for one reason or another. This is well worth seeing if you’re ever in Darwin and the entry price can’t be beat.
Not far from there is the Waterfront, with a few eateries and a wave pool. We had lunch here at one of the hotels. $12.50 for a beer battered Barra and an ice cold beer. Happy with that!
The wave pool looked OK, not many people in it, but I figured we could find somewhere better for a cool off.
The next stop was Leanyer Recreation Reserve. This place has a lagoon pool, a water play area (with the big bucket that drenches you) and 3 huge waterslides. There’s a tandem waterslide with a tube, a regular slide and also a speed slide. About 10 lifeguards on duty. The best bit is that this is all free, courtesy of the NT government. All Vic’s get from our government is more bloody speed cameras!
