Today was our last day in Broome, and we spent it relaxerizing … this is a holiday after all.
We spent the morning down at Cable Beach while the tide was low. The kids spent a bit of time playing soccer. Hannah drew some huge characterizations of each of us … including Poppie. We all had a bit of a swim and a bit of a sunbake. It’s a bit hard to relax though with the kids running around while there’s cars driving up and down the beach. Not all of them are looking out for a couple of kids…
After the beach, we went back to the park and we all had a swim in the pool. I wandered off to find a car wash to get all the salt off the car. Talk about a rip off! I reckon I may have gotten about a minute of high pressure hose for $2. $12 was enough to give the underside of the car as good a wash as I was prepared to pay for. There’s a business opportunity in Broome for a decent car wash, that’s for sure!
The afternoon was spent doing as little as possible, but some packup got done. Blake occupied himself balancing empty soft drink cans in all sorts of patterns on all sorts of things. Kel & I gave the inside of the car a bit of a vacuum, but its a bit of a lost cause. Billy & Diedre made contact as they are also in Broome at the moment. We’re not going to be able to catch up with them though, unfortunately, as tonight’s the last night.
The evening was again spent down on Cable Beach, but this time we walked down there with the pretext of keeping the car clean. A nice relaxing evening on the beach sipping Moet and chewing nibblies. Not a bad way to end our stay in Broome. We’d been saving the Moet since the start of the trip. It’s done well not to explode given how its been treated. As if on cue, once we got settled down on the beach the bottle popped open of its own accord. It knew its time was up.
Blake and Hannah were pretty active down on the beach. Hannah was doing flips and cartwheels and her dance routines. Blake was the same, but instead of dance routines, he got to do all his Karate Kata’s on the beach.
Broome is the halfway mark, on distance, for our trip. That’s a bit sad, but its not half way on time. Tomorrow we start heading back East. So we had a bit of a stock up.
