After an uneventful night on the boat we woke with the sun.  Lack of curtains will do that …

Around 8am we had Bob and his faithful dog Barnaby rock up to show us the ropes.

This was a bit of fun as Barnaby, a terrier, has a real personality and threw his ‘tigger’ toy into the water and went to retrieve it … but he couldn’t get back on board the boat !   Finally he ended up decapitating the toy and fluff went everywhere … all while we were getting instruction on how to use the boat and how to navigate the Whitsundays.

All good fun!

Once we’d had some practice picking up a public mooring and also anchoring we were left to our own devices.  This meant choosing a destination … something we hadn’t put much thought into.  Given the wind, we decided to head somewhere sheltered for the afternoon and night.  This turned out to be Nara Inlet.  This is well protected from the wind and is close by to many things that we might choose to do tomorrow.

On our agenda is at least to get to Whitehaven Beach.  We need to have a good think about where else we’ll head.

Once we got to Nara we set anchor and had lunch.  We had a bit of a look around in the dinghy and had a swim for awhile.  A bit of a relaxing ale followed by another swim.  A bit of phone calling followed by another swim.  You get the idea.

Dinner tonight is marinated lemon garlic chicken on the bbq.  Ought to be entertaining and tasty.  Chocolate bits and pieces for desert followed by a movie, possibly Dead Calm …
