So great to be on the road again!  Being back in the van and also back touring feels almost like being home.  We’re all getting very used to this travelling the countryside gig.

A couple of little errands before we left Darwin.  I finally managed to find another porta potti.  I also picked up a fridge fan to give the fridge a helping hand.  Since arriving back in Darwin the van fridge has rarely been below 10 degrees.  As I write this, its 18 🙁  The fridge is working as hard as it can, but it relies on airflow to cool it down and there is just no breeze, or its coming from the wrong way.  A fan will help provide that breeze when its needed.

So, we ended up pointing South about 9am and about lunchtime we arrived at Edith Falls.  As always, it’s a bit of a hot walk to get to the oasis, but always worth it.  Kel’s freshly prepared lunch gave us the much needed energy for the climb.  We blasted past a few other young couples, suffering from the heat, on the way up.  They must have wondered what we were on…  (Secret ingredient = Kels Chilli)

A great little series of cascading pools.

There was a geocache here, but well off the track.  I had a go at getting it, but it was in the middle of snake central.  I spotted a few Mulga snakes sunbaking on the way down to where it was hidden … somewhere in a rock crevice.  Absolutely NO WAY I was sticking my hands in there and fishing for tupperware!

Back to the rig and we continued on to Mataranka.

Interesting Rig to travel Australia in! Imagine unpacking all that each night.

Kel got another shot behind the wheel as I wasn’t feeling too well.  Just a bit buggered and worn out I suspect.  I’m back in fine form after a dip at Bitter Springs.

The water here’s not super warm, but a tad too warm to be refreshing.  Still I wasn’t complaining.  The water was very nice after a hot day.  Absolutely crystal clear with goggles on.  Not a lot to see under the water, but its so clear and bright that its almost like flying.  There’s a few fish to chase around.  The local kids were even having swimming lessons here … jealous!
