Today was an interesting day.  First day that I haven’t taken a photo on the trip!

You guys will just have to make do with the 1000 words instead.

Since we barely setup yesterday, the packup was over nearly before it had begun.  A quick call to Palm Grove Resort confirmed that “Yes, we do have a site for you today … and No, it’s not vacated yet”.  This was fine since we wanted to have a bit of a look around the visitor centre anyway.

From the visitor centre we went to the park and checked in, set up, etc, etc.  The pool isn’t as nice as the place we just left, but we’re not planning on spending much time in the pool anyway.

Setup took awhile, since we’re here for 4 nights, and all the bits and pieces had to be put out.

The kids and Kel again went to the pool while I fussed around the van trying to sort out the next few days agenda.  Blake came back from the pool ‘not happy’.  He’d again stubbed his toe … yep THAT toe.  With everybody ready to do something away from the van (and pool) we jumped in the car for a look around.

First job on the agenda was to restock some supplies.  We need to do a big shop tomorrow, but this will tide us over until then.  We drove down to Cable Beach and had a short drive along there for awhile too.  The beach was at high tide so wasn’t as spectacular as it can be, but there were still people everywhere.

Tonight we went to see the new Australian movie ‘Red Dog’ at the open air Sun Pictures cinema.  This was a bit surreal as we’ve seen it many times on the travel shows and in movies.  Twice during the movie there were planes taking off straight over our heads as the cinema is directly at the end of the runway.  Seeing the story of the Pilbarra Wanderer in the most iconic Kimberley theatre was a bit special I must say!  There was thunderous applause at the end of the movie … ya don’t see that much these days.
