Today we got some of the domestics done.  A bit of washing, drying and shopping.

Not far to the beach … just where that fence is.  I went for a bit of a ride there this morning and grabbed the geocache of the day.

We also managed to get down south to Victor Harbor.  Victor Harbor reminded us a bit of Mornington.  A little seaside tourist town.

There was a great little whaling education place in town that kept the kids interested for ages.

Lunch was a funny proposition … heaps of pubs and restaurants, but we ended up at Subway.

One of the main drawcards was a horse drawn tram that goes from the mainland to Granite Island.  We bought a ticket across and wandered around the island for awhile.  The wind was considerably fiercer out there, but we still had a good look around.  They have a colony of about 2000 little penguins that call the island home each night.  It’s certainly cold enough to make them feel at home.

Once we left there we headed towards Silver Sands beach, mainly since you’re allowed to drive on it.  Unfortunately its basically just the town beach, so it’s about 3km long, 20m wide with a speed limit of 10km/h.  Still interesting though.  Hooded plovers use the beach for nesting, so ya need to dodge potential nests.  Not too exciting.

Back at the van tonight we’re getting set to move again tomorrow.  The kids are drunk on sugar and are driving me mental.  Roast chicken for dinner, as taking them out when they’re on a sugar rush is a bad idea, we only have Kel to blame.  Another quiet night in.  Earlyish day tomorrow.  Not too far to go, but a few wineries and breweries, hopefully, that are set to slow us down.
